Marshall jcm 800 serial numbers

A '1' in the second position from the left to right sequence of the numeric portion indicates build. By way of comparison a production Anniversary will not have the '1' in that second position. So for example a serial of 'AS ' would indicate a production build Anniversary Series. This will not be an 'R' in the serial number. Only an 'AS' will designate Anniversary Series. Apparently at the beginning of they switched the year letter to the end of the serial number. However mine says R which is and is in the front of the serial number. This is a w head, I can guarantee that because it says it on the black label.

Can someone help me?! Messages 27, It's the R that counts, so it's Blix said:. The Worship Guitarist said:. Just curious though, why is the R first? O and S intentionally omitted. A nice bonus, no shipping charge for once!

Lots of conflicting information floats around about these split channel JCM amps, model numbers 50w and w and their combo amp equivalents. Officially introduced in the year , though I have seen some units with serial numbers, these were designed to push guitar tones and amp design into the next decade.

With slow sales and mixed reviews, the split channel range was completely redesigned sometime in or Letters B, I, O and Q were not used to avoid confusing letters with numbers. Starting in the date code letter was moved from the end to the middle of the production code, between the model code and the production number. In October of Marshall began using stickers printed with serial numbers and bar codes. These were comprised of nine digits in the format of xx-xxxxx-xx though not always.

These serial numbers can be decoded as follows:. In August of Marshall switched to their current serial number format which contains more information and is easily decoded. These are printed on a sticker and affixed to the back of the amplifier and are comprised of a letter followed by ten numbers followed by another letter: A-xxxx-xx-xxxx-A.

Checking against other amps from the era as well as component markings speakers, potentiometers, transformers can help to confirm a year of production. You must be logged in to post a comment.
